Official ‘Simpsons’ Duff Beer Coming to Chile

As we previously reported, officially-licensed Duff Beer was poised for a worldwide release, and has since been making a slow trek onto store shelves in a number of potential countries.

The winner of the race? Chile.

After 20th Century FOX nixed numerous knockoffs around the globe (as well as a failed legit attempt) our South American neighbors will get the first real taste of sweet, sweet freedom any day now.

“I think there’s potential to have Duff everywhere in the world,” said Jeffrey Godsick, President of FOX’s consumer products division.

Chile got the nod first as the Duff market was already established by multiple previous bootleg efforts. “Once you see enough piracy, you are faced with two choices,” Godsick explained. “One is deciding to fight it, and the other is deciding to go out [into the market] with it.”

As for the beer itself, “It’s a premium lager,” Godsick said. “It’s got a very good balance of flavor and refreshment to it. It’s fairly golden in color. It’s got a hint of fruit to it. It’s got a caramel aromatic to it.”

So keep your eyes on the shelves in the U.S. and other countries, and you too can enjoy that wonderful taste balance that helps knock you off-balance.
