Off-Broadway’s “Avenue Q” Announces Fundraiser for LGBQT Non-Profit

Go see a great show to support a great cause!

To help bring awareness to New York City’s Pride Weekend, the producers of Avenue Q have teamed up with the Point Foundation to help raise funds for the non-profit. All fans have to do is head on over to the New World Stages Box Office or Telecharge.com with the promo code AQPOINT617 and $25 of every ticket will go to benefit the Point Foundation.

The Point Foundation helps high school students who have dropped out as a result of the social pressures that come with being a LGBQT teenager and assists them in completing their high school diploma and in attaining a college education.

Avenue Q is an “autobiographical and biographical” coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirizing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood, as well as being a parody of educational children’s television shows. Its characters lament that as children, they were assured by their parents, and by children’s television programs , that they were “special” and “could do anything”; but as adults, they have discovered to their surprise and dismay that in the real world their options are limited, and they are no more “special” than anyone else.
