NYCC2020: Dead Pixels Looks To Level Up In Season Two

Dead Pixels finished its first season run in the US on the CW channel last month, and for the last day of the 2020 New York Comic Con, an event called Game On was held with members of the show to reflect back on the first season and look ahead to season two. Hosted by Claire Lim, the panel began by introducing the panelists and getting a bit of background into their history with gaming.

Series creator and producer Jon Brown was the sole behind-the-scenes person in attendance. Though he considered himself a gamer as a kid, he didn’t really get back into the swing of things until his children started playing games themselves. He also talked about some of the research and preparation behind the show, and how he and a fellow producer went to a gaming event and witnessed seeing a person buy numerous expired soda products due to their dedication to the game.

The two cast members who made it to the panel were Alexa Davies, who plays the leading role of Meg, and Charlotte Ritchie, who plays Alison, the normal flatmate. Though neither of them consider themselves to be big gamers, there are still things they relate to about their characters. Alexa said that she and Meg are both creatures of habit, but they just have “very different habits.”

In terms of season two teases, creator Jon Brown says that the show will get deeper into the subcultures of gaming, and explore more from the product development side of gaming. There will also be more opportunities to open up the world, and visit overseas places — though it will likely be virtually in the game. Alexa and Charlotte both agree that season two is going to be better than season one, saying that there are a bunch of lines so funny that they found it hard to keep their composure on set.

Since the second season has already been filmed, it’s only a matter of time now before it airs in the US. From what we’ve heard about it so far, it definitely seems like Dead Pixels is going to be leveling up in season two.
