New Clip For “Close Enough” Introduces ‘Alex’ For Upcoming HBO MAX Series

It’s been almost a month since the launch of HBO MAX and already the streaming service has stumbled like a Homer Simpson after a night at Moe’s. Their marketing department has completely failed at educating masses on the differences between HBO MAX vs HBO NOW vs HBO GO to go along with the fact that they seldom promote their original series. Sure, their acquired programming they go nuts for, but I haven’t seen diddly squat about any of the original programming that has released, or is looking to premiere anytime soon. Instead, the service is too busy removing Gone With The Wind, taking away guns from Looney Tunes, and not having a whole bunch of content on the day of the launch.

Chief among the examples, Close Enough, long the most recent poster of Kevin Reilly’s failed attempt at launching an original animation block for TBS, the upcoming quarter-hour series from JG Quintel is begging for an attention that they simply are not getting. With Hulu, Netflix, Quibi, and sister network Adult Swim all coming in hot for original adult animation, HBO MAX is lagging behind in doing any sort of promotion for the July 9th bow which makes perfect sense because it’s the same group responsible for Adult Swim’s drastic ratings decrease across the board following the season four finale of Rick and Morty (it should also be noted that Rick and Morty season four saw a 40% drop in ratings whence compared to the show’s third season).

Here’s a new clip for Close Enough that introduces us to “Alex”, voiced by Jason Mantzoukas. Fortunately for Jason he’s a busy voice actor who is featured on the likes of Big Mouth, Solar Opposites, and the upcoming Invincible for Amazon, networks that actually seem to care about their original series.

Update 6/12: Mere hours after I posted this, HBO MAX released another clip for a different character that you can see below. It has also been announced that Close Enough will be featured at Annecy.
