Multiple Reports Of FOX Wanting To Add Yet Another Animation Hour

Both Deadline and THR feature quick chats with FOX Entertainment bosses like Rob Wade and Michael Thorn, both of whom have made various comments to each of the publications about the possibility of adding another animation hour. The network has ordered a number of franchises to series and have a bunch more in development. Both reports note that while there is no end in sight for The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, or Family Guy, the network is planning for a future that makes sure FOX is known as the defacto broadcast network spot for primetime animation just as it has been for 30 years.

The network has been super busy in building up it’s arsenal of originals and are doing it with an even mix of in-house and outside talent. In the last week or so, notable names from HBO, Adult Swim, and Netflix have all flocked to FOX with originals in production and with the acquisition of Bento Box Entertainment( the studio behind Bob’s Burgers), the network is doing more to make sure they get as much of those pies as possible. A brand-new series called Duncanville is set to premiere Feb 16 and FOX’s newest aired IP, Bless the Harts, is getting ready to wrap Sunday Night and has already been ordered for a second season. FOX has also in production new series The Great North and Housebroken

In the meantime, FOX’s current trio of Animation Domination mainstays appears to be strong and will continue to be a focal point for the network for the foreseeable future. More as it develops…
