Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind Voice Cast Announced

With the recent leak of this new animated film’s existence. An article not only confirms this animated movie is happening but also shares the voice cast and one screenshot. Inspired by the blockbuster video game franchise from Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios, this third entry in the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment animated film series arrives as Mortal Kombat itself approaches its 30th anniversary this year.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind is both produced and directed by Rick Morales, who also produced Scorpion’s Revenge and Battle of the Realms. Jeremy Adams, who wrote the previous two films, is back as the screenwriter of Snow Blind.

Check out this new image from Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind featuring a much older Kuai Liang (Sub Zero) and Kenshi.

The voice cast includes Manny Jacinto (Top Gun: Maverick, The Good Place) and David Wenham (the Lord of the Rings movies, Iron Fist), as well as Ron Yuan, who voiced Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 11 but plays Sub-Zero this time around.

The full voice cast is listed below:

Manny Jacinto – Kenshi
David Wenham – Kano
Ron Yuan – Kuai Liang/Sub-Zero
Keith Silverstein – Kabal
Courtenay Taylor – Kira
Yuri Lowenthal – Kobra
Artt Butler – Shang Tsung & Lin Kuei
Imari Williams – Tremor

The voice cast also includes Patrick Seitz, Lei Yin, Sumalee Montano, Debra Wilson, and Keston John.

Synopsis:

“Kano is hellbent on taking over Earthrealm, viciously attacking town after town with the aid of three cold-blooded Black Dragon mercenaries. Those who don’t submit are annihilated. One young man won’t bend the knee to Kano: Kenshi. Cocky and undisciplined, Kenshi loses both his eyesight and his confidence after Kano and his clan attack him. Kenshi then comes under the tutelage of Kuai Liang, now retired and reluctant to train Kenshi – but also the only fighter powerful enough to challenge Kano. Along the way, Kenshi rediscovers the hope he had lost and a possible path to redemption … but will that be enough to stop Kano and save Earthrealm?”

Our Take

With the recent leak & synopsis, the cast is easy to figure out who’s who in this plot. However that leaked image doesn’t share too much of what’s going on but if I didn’t know it was MK-related, as I was getting “Avatar: The Last Airbender” vibes. Kira and Kobra were characters from Mortal Kombat Deception, but many of the other Black Dragon members originated from the obscure action game “Mortal Kombat: Special Forces” including Tremor who made his fighting game debut in Mortal Kombat X as DLC.

I wasn’t expecting Kabal to be into the mix given that the game’s writers either make him a hero or a villain depending on the plot, but it should be interesting. While the release date is later this year and subject to change, certain websites claim the Blu-Ray is said to be out on October 11, 2022. But at this point, we won’t know yet until further announcements are made…
