UPDATE: Michael Fassbender’s ‘Frank’ Character Looks Awfully Familiar

Michael Fassbender stars in a new indie film called Frank, in which his character fronts a band while wearing a giant papier-mâché head the entire time.

Normally we wouldn’t report on this flick, given that it doesn’t contain any animation or cartoons; however, take a close look at that giant head. Does it remind you of anything?

Maybe it’s just me, but the face appears to bear a striking resemblance to Moral Orel, the lead character from the Adult Swim stop-motion animated show of the same name. Their hair is the same color and has the same shape and part, and the ears, nose, mouth, and eyes are all in similar proportions to each other’s.

The colossal cranium character is actually a loose reference to musician/comedian Chris Sievey, a.k.a. Frank Sidebottom, frontman of The Freshies – but I honestly think Fassbender’s Frank looks more like Moral, and Sievey’s Frank looks more like the cartoon version of Peter Lorre.

Frank hits theaters in the US today.

*UPDATE*

We reached for comment from Moral Orel creator Dino Stamatoupolos (ok, not really, we tagged him on Facebook) and he thinks Frank looks a bit more like Davey than Morel and we can definitely see his point. We’d like to hear from you guys!
