Merch News: “The Simpsons” ; “Rick and Morty”
Not really merch news, but Stephen Hawking’s personal figuring inspired by The Simpsons was just sold for $3500 in what was expected to go, at best, around $600.
Stephen Hawking first made a Simpsons cameo appearance in the 1999 episode ‘They Saved Lisa’s Brain’ (s.10, ep.22): he attends a meeting of Springfield’s Mensa society – the Simpsons staff apparently selected their guest-star on the basis that he would be certifiably smarter than all the Springfield members – and debates with Homer the possibility of a doughnut-shaped universe. Hawking starred in four episodes of The Simpsons between 1999 and 2009, later quipping that ‘as many people know me through The Simpsons as for my science’ and claiming that these cameos resulted in some viewers confusing him for a fictional character. He described the show as the best thing on American television.
The Simpsons ‘Dr Stephen Hawking’ figurine made was made by Playmates Toys in 2003.

Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
