MATT STONE AND TREY PARKER DO SOME INTERVIEWS ABOUT BOOK OF MORMON IN DENVER
The Book of Mormon is set to be a travelling show now which is great because they can switch from me not getting to see them on Broadway in NYC, to not being able to see them anywhere else because its always sold out. The one bright side about this is that Matt Stone and Trey Parker(South Park) get to come out of their bat caves and actually talk to people. Case in point the guys had a chance to talk to the Denver Westword and Trey Parker commented about the recent Aurora shooting:
“When I heard the news [about the Aurora shooting], I was incredibly saddened, and I knew we were coming here this month,” Parker said. “It’s not an easy time, and my reaction was that I want to find a way to bring something happy to my friends and family and all the people here in any way. I hope we can bring laughter to people who could use it.”
And as such I think the residents of Aurora could certainly use that laughs and who better than its home town heroes. A lot of people think of Matt Stone and Trey Parker as evil but when you read something like this it really makes you stop and think we may be pointing the fingers at the wrong people. In another interview this time with the Aurora Sentinel, the guys talk about having The Book of Mormon being brought to the South Park creators’ home town state:
As Colorado natives, is there any special significance debuting the show at the Buell? Did you make any stops here on field trips as kids?
TP: You have to launch a tour somewhere. We have to spend three weeks in some city, besides New York and L.A., and it’s great that it’s here with our family and our friends. It’s great to be somewhere we’re familiar with.
We’re in Colorado a lot because we have friends and family here … It still feels a bit like home, which is great.
MS: Yeah, my dad taught at Auraria … Just this area I came to all the time.
TP: And this theater is so much bigger than our Broadway theater. It’s kind of like, ‘Wow, we’re big time.’ It feels weird to step up.
Its good to see a little light being brought to Denver and surrounding areas in this time of need. And who better than Matt Stone and Trey Parker and their Tony Award winning musical Book of Mormon.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
