The coloration between heavy metal and cartoons is well documented (Ed. Note, Avenged Sevenfold isn’t really a metal band). Hell, just read all about it here. But now it seems as if everyone in the “metal” business is motivated to get a piece of the animation pie. The first real litmus test for this logic comes this fall, when Machinima Happy Hour starts airing “Hail To The King”, a collaboration between Jon Schnepp of Metalocalypse fame and quasi-metal band Avenged Sevenfold. Machinima posted up the teaser trailer to YouTube on Sunday and I’ll be honest, it actually looks pretty good. Having been a fan of A7X off and on since Sounding The Seventh Trumpet, I know M. Shadows and company can tell a pretty decent story. The true test will be seeing how the music transcends onto the animated screen.Will the animators be able to keep up with the pace? Schnepp’s directing abilities and artistic direction are well proven but let’s be honest A7X is no Dethklok. But then again, no one can be Dethklok.
