Love Death + Robots Producers Re-Team On “The Goon” For 20th Century FOX

Fresh off of their very successful collaboration co-production of Netflix’s Love Death + Robots, David Fincher (Se7en) and Tim Miller (Deadpool) have put back into development an animated film with 20th Century FOX inspired by the popular comic book that was written and illustrated by Eric Powell, The Goon.

News of a film adaptation goes as far back as 2008 when Blur Studios (the same studio behind the aforementioned Netflix series) with Clancy Brown as the voice of “The Goon” and Paul Giamatti as the voice of “Franky”. The design and the script were pretty much done last we heard, just lack of funding. A Kickstarter launched that saw north of $400,000 raised, however, what that money was used for is unknown at this juncture. The likes of Brendon Small, Tom Lennon, Brian Posehn, and Patton Oswalt have all at one point contributed to the production of the aforementioned comic book series.

The Goon is a comic book series written and drawn by Eric Powell (with colors often by Dave Stewart, Eric or Eric’s brother, Robin). The series mixes both a comical and violent atmosphere with a supernatural slant, which pit the titular character against undead creatures/zombies, ghosts, ghouls, mutants, skunk-apes with an unnatural hunger for pies, giant squids, mob/gang leaders, extra-dimensional aliens, mad scientists and robots.

Update 7/25/22: This is now going to Netflix
