Long Live the Royals expands to impressive cast

We were the first to tell you guys the other day when Cartoon Network’s Long Live the Royals was going to premiere, and then just yesterday the network had given us more details including what looks to be a rather fabulous cast.

So, Jon Daly is on board as King Rufus, and that we knew, but it’s the rest that’s even more stellar. Joining Jon will be Wendi McLendon-Covey as image-focused Queen Eleanor, Gillian Jacobs as punk rock Princess Rosalind, Kieran Culkin as shy Prince Peter and Nicki Rapp as royal pain Prince Alex. Peter Serafinawicz,Horatio Sanz, Fred Armisen, Alfred Molina, Ellie Kemper, Ken Marino and more also lend their voices to the fun.

Long Live the Royals is a sitcom that focuses on a modern royal family living in an old-fashioned world. They oversee matters of the State while managing typical family dynamics, and they balance current technologies with medieval traditions. Join them as they try to keep it together while navigating the week-long Yule Hare Festival where there will be delicious food, exciting frights, singing forest men and most importantly, much laughter.

From first glance, this could be Cartoon Network’s answer to animated FOX fare like The Simpsons in that it’s a series revolving around a family which is a concept that you don’t see a lot of on Adult Swim with the exception of Rick and Morty and American Dad! for TBS. As a matter of fact, if you were to tell me this show would get ordered an extra 12 minutes per episode and put on right after American Dad!, I would’t think you were weird.
