LA TIMES DOES WRITE UP ABOUT THE FUTURE OF DISNEY’S CARTOONS

A couple months back the LA Times did a really great write up on how the landscape over at Disney is changing with new shows like Fish Hooks, Phineas and Ferb, and  the recently announced Gravity Falls are bringing in a slightly older and more mature audience than the kind Mickey, Goofy, and Daffy ever could. The writers would later go on to interview Alex Hirsch:

“Disney wasn’t the first place I would have thought of going to,” said the show’s creator, Alex Hirsch, who grew up watching Fox’s irreverent animated comedy “The Simpsons.” But the Disney Channel is where the show will debut in June.

“Gravity Falls” is loosely based on the summers that Hirsch and his twin sister spent camping in Northern California with their great-aunt Lois — minus the gnomes and pterodactyls and “all the magical strangeness I wish would have happened.” The imaginative series is among the new animated projects highlighting the Disney Channel’s television upfront presentation to potential sponsors Tuesday in New York City.

Yea, but we already knew all that didn’t we? Seriously though Fish Hooks and from the looks of it Gravity Falls may do for Alex what Family Guy and American Dad did for Seth MacFarlane…yes he’s THAT good. If you don’t believe me check out the trailer for his upcoming new series Gravity Falls.
