Judge Tosses “Sesame Street” Suit Against “The Happytime Murders”

This one’s already causing trouble.

It’s only been one trailer, and the Melissa McCarthy-starring The Happytime Murders slated to come out this Summer is already pissing people off. Only a week after the producers of Sesame Street was suing the producers of The Happytime Murders for mentioning the kid-friendly franchise in the just debuted trailer, a judge has ruled in favor of Murders’ distributors STX Films thereby allowing the continuation of the controversial marketing campaign.

THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS is a filthy comedy set in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with a shared secret, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together again to solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved classic puppet television show.

THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS opens at AMC Theatres on August 17, 2018.
