Hulu/20th Television Animation Cuts Ties With Justin Roiland: Solar Opposites Lead Character To Be Re-Cast?

Instead of waiting on whether or not Justin Roiland would be found innocent following domestic abuse charges that were filed in 2020, 20th Television Animation/Hulu has opted to part ways with the co-creator of Solar Opposites and are planning to recast the starring role of the series for what will be for the remainder of the show’s ordered episodes which right now is in production for season five.

Our Take

It should be noted, Justin has not been found guilty of any charges, and his lawyer T. Edward Welbourn not only maintains his client’s innocence, but that even the original reports from a week or so ago are being blown out of proportion in terms of accuracy and that there is confidence Justin will be cleared of all charges at his April 27th hearing.

For Koala Man, of which Justin Roiland is a co-creator, really just in name only is the series really being affected, with show creator Michael Cusack and Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez being more onerous for the franchise. As for Solar Opposites, one has to wonder if the franchise even wants to last much longer as this isn’t the first-time allegations against one of the show’s voices came to fruition. In 2019, Thomas Middleditch (voice of Terry) was accused of sexual misconduct of which Thomas has been noted to have apologized to all involved. As for Roiland, it will be interesting to see how the Solar Opposites franchise continues on without the voice of Korvo.
