If you want, you can buy NFT’s inspired by the series, but if you were expecting The Boondocks to premiere at any point this year, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer. The official Instagram for The Boondocks has updated it’s bio and in it is the news that The Boondocks reboot coming to HBO MAX isn’t coming until 2022. This after we were told a Fall 2020 premiere, followed by a sometime in 2021 premiere. Alas, it looks like 2022 is holding as the next possible year in which we’re going to get new episodes of what is being touted as a “reimagined” take on the classic Adult Swim franchise.

The premiere in 2022 will kick off with a 50-minute premiere followed by 12 episodes that have already been backordered and features Aaron McGruder back at the helm of being the showrunner  and will serve as executive producer along with Norm Aladjem for Mainstay Entertainment as well as Seung Kim and Meghann Collins Robertson.

Synopsis:

The show begins with a black family, the Freemans, settling into the fictional, friendly and overall white suburb of Woodcrest and follows them as they fight the regime of Uncle Ruckus, who rules over the community government. The perspective offered by this mixture of cultures, lifestyles, social classes, stereotypes, viewpoints, and racialized identities provides for much of the series’ satire, comedy, and conflict.
