HBO MAX News: “Harley Quinn” ; “Close Enough”
Harley Quinn is a super popular series for DC Universe, but does that app’s death mean the future of the series is up in the air? With the final run of DC Fandome wrapping over the weekend, fans and producers are wondering where the fuck the season three renewal announcement is. Producers Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern haven’t heard anything and there are rumors swirling that budget could be a factor on the franchise’s future.
Right now, the first two seasons of Harley Quinn are streaming on HBO MAX and currently air in syndication for Syfy. But with no word of a renewal, it would take at best until Q3 of 2021 before there’s even a premiere. Critical reviews of the series have been positive, but die-hard fans of Batman’s rogue gallery have been tribal on social platforms with some not in favor of changes from the source material whether it has to do with characters’ gender fluidity or racial background. Questions also have arisen about the popularity of Harley Quinn as a bankable character given that all of her starring feature films have been financial bombs.

Netflix has picked up international distribution rights for HBO MAX’s Close Enough joining the likes of other WarnerMedia adult animated series that they also send to Netflix for streaming syndication such as Final Space and Rick and Morty.
