HBO MAX: Adult Animation Available At Launch And What’s To Come

 

HBO MAX has with it, one of the most extensive libraries of past primetime/adult animation on this green Earth. WarnerMedia owns assets like Adult Swim, Toonami, Hanna-Barbera, DC Universe, Rooster Teeth, and a slew of others to go along with new original series coming to HBO MAX down the road. To help, we put together a list of everything coming through the end of 2020 to the streaming service starting launch day on May 27th and moving through at least Winter 2020. Expect more acquisitions and original series to be part of the docket moving forward.

Close Enough (MAX Original – Animated Series)

• Synopsis: From JG Quintel, creator of the Emmy Award-winning Regular Show comes Close Enough, a surreal animated comedy about a married couple, their five-year-old daughter, and their two divorced best friends/roommates all living together on the east side of Los Angeles. They’re navigating that transitional time in your 30s when life is about growing up, but not growing old. It’s about juggling work, kids, and pursuing your dreams, while avoiding time-traveling snails, stripper clowns, and murderous mannequins. Their life may not be ideal but for now, it’s close enough.

TOONED OUT (Max Original – Comedy Series)

• Synopsis: Executive produced by Robert Zemeckis, Tooned Out is a half-hour, hybrid live-action and animated comedy in development for HBO Max. Things get a little cartoony for Mac when he starts seeing iconic cartoon characters, but they’re not just there for laughs, they’re helping him get through a very rough patch in his life.

THE PRINCE (Max Original – Animated Series)

• Synopsis: The Prince, whose voice cast also includes Orlando Bloom, Condola Rashad, Lucy Punch, Tom Hollander, Alan Cumming, Frances De La Tour and Iwan Rheon, is inspired by Janetti’s popular Instagram account, which has nearly 1 million followers and has garnered international media attention for poking fun at the British Royals (and the relentless media coverage of them) through the eyes of a young Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William and Princess Kate and a future king.
