“Good Times”: Netflix Series Sets Cast And Producers

Netflix’s animated Good Times reboot from Seth MacFarlane, Steph Curry, and Norman Lear with Ranada Shepard and Carl Jones as co-creators has set its cast and boy does this sound like one of the most-anticipated series of 2024.

According to Deadline who broke the story, JB Smoove, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jay Pharoah, Marsai Martin, Slink Johnson and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola are all part of the cast joining the late Norman Lear as a guest star. The series finds the fourth generation of the Evans family living in apartment 17C of the last remaining housing projects in Chicago. It turns out the more things change the more they stay the same and keeping your head above water is as challenging as ever. The only thing tougher than life for this family is love, and there’s more than enough to go around.

Our Take

The Jay Pharoah signing isn’t surprising on two levels. For starters, Jay was part of a special live-action special Live in Front of a Studio AudienceAll In The Family and Good Times portraying JJ Evans. The other reason why this isn’t a surprise collaboration, Jay has been a consulting producer for Family Guy for a couple of seasons now and has contributed voices to the series as well. It should also be worth noting that Jay is in the top-echelon of voice actors working today with a range that is pretty much unmatched right now.
