“Futurama” and “South Park” are big hits for Hulu

Could this justify a revival?

In what was possibly a catalyst for the recent pilot order for a new series being produced by the guys at Robot ChickenHulu has revealed interesting data about some streaming practices while doing up a panel at ATX where they not only double downed on South Park’s ability to pay down their monstrous licensing fees with 135 million hours of watching, but that the recently acquired Futurama from Netflix is already a hit with 35,000 subscribers watching all 10 seasons of the series in under three weeks.

There was much outcry when Futurama departed Netflix, but creator Matt Groening is bringing a new animated series featuring most of the Futurama cast to Netflix in August called Disenchantment. In the meantime, fans are still clamoring for new episodes of Futurama to be produced with all staff willing to take part along with the producers. Perhaps with this positive data, Hulu can take a chance on more episodes of Futurama to be produced.

Accidentally frozen, pizza-deliverer Fry wakes up 1,000 years in the future. He is taken in by his sole descendant, an elderly and addled scientist who owns a small cargo delivery service. Among the other crew members are Capt. Leela, accountant Hermes, intern Amy, obnoxious robot Bender and lobsterlike moocher “Dr.” Zoidberg.
