“Freedom Fighters: The Ray” To Release Later This Week!

You gotta fight for your right to punch Nazis.

CW Seed has finally decided to give us a heads up for when their next animated DC Comics property will be free to watch, and it’s sooner than we thought. Starting December 8th, the newest Arrowverse spin-off show begins, presumably in a similar manner to the previous two seasons of Vixen.

Set in one of the many Earths of the franchise’s established Multiverse, Freedom Fighters gives more of a look at Earth X, a world where the Nazis won World War 2 and have nearly completed world domination. They are stopped short by a group of superheroes called the Freedom Fighters, including our titular protagonist, The Ray. Oddly, Ray is from Earth 1, where the main Arrowverse Earth, and this story will elaborate as to how he not only got his powers, but ended up on this end of the Multiverse. This world was also given much focus in the CW-DC shows’ annual crossover, “Crisis on Earth X”, though the trailer seems to imply that this animated version will take place before those events.

The show is also notable for being the first superhero show with a gay protagonist (much like Vixen was the first to be led by a black female protagonist) which might be of importance in a world where that group would be very much persecuted.

Check it out, starting this Friday, December 8th, on CW Seed!
