FOX Teases Animation Domination Fall Return ; ‘NIMH’ In The Works As Network Expands On Adult Animation Genres

FOX’s legendary Animation Domination is slated to return in the next couple of weeks. The iconic lineup of prime-time animation will do so on Sunday nights starting September 26th, and according to Varietydespite the fact that Seth MacFarlane opines about being on a sister network of actual walking cyst Tucker Carlson, FOX Entertainment President Michael Thorn sees many more seasons of Family Guy, The Simpsons, The Great North, and Bob’s Burgers coming down the pike. Everything mentioned has already been renewed and is in production for additional seasons on top of the recently ordered renewals of FOX’s recently wrapped AniDom Monday night lineup. But, animation is going to continue to be a focal point of the FOX network moving forward and it’s forcing the head honchos to start considering franchises that aren’t necessarily animated family comedies.

According to Deadline, FOX wants to green-lit up to two additional animated series from the current crop of presentations that have already been ordered and are on tap include Shell Beach from Tyler, The Creator, Lionel Boyce and Davon “Jasper” Wilson; Prince Wawa, from Tim Baltz and Lily Sullivan; rideshare comedy Cocky ; hybrid animated-single-cam project Demi-God from Katie Greenway; a semi-autobiographical animated comedy from Jermaine Fowler; and Ocean Village from Daniel Cardenas Katz. Both Bedrock and Clue sound like they are heading in the right direction, and we reported on the casting news for Krapopolis earlier today that is slated to premiere in 2022.

Deadline also reports that FOX has ordered a script for an animated adaptation of the classic book Rats of NIMH. The drama-event series will be the start of hopefully additional efforts to see FOX dive into animation in additional genres in mysteries, romantic comedies, adventure series and workplace comedies. Until that happens, enjoy these new posters for the September 26th prime-time return of Animation Domination which kicks off at 8 pm ET/PT, check your local listings.

TBS and Adult Swim will be both losing the syndication rights to Family Guy over the next couple of weeks with the franchise moving over to FXX. The network is soon deploying an almost entire lineup of syndicated programming which will include The Cleveland Show, King of the Hill, The Simpsons, and more just as the network is beginning to celebrate it’s eighth anniversary. Bob’s Burgers will still be on the TBS/Adult Swim lineups as will American Dad. The 32nd season of The Simpsons will be available on Disney+ starting September 29th.
