FOX Entertainment Looks To The Future With Bento Box Acquisition

Rumor has it, FOX Television is not only bringing back Animation Domination, but they are planning for the future of the Sunday Night lineup with built Bob’s Burgers. This has led to the spur in recent adult animation pickups which includes the likes of Duncanville, Bless the Harts, and The Great North along with a slew of others in development.

Purchasing one of the busiest animation studios in the business, Bento Box Entertainment is an interesting turn of events. Mere months after selling off 20th Century FOX which was responsible for series like Family Guy, American Dad, and The Simpsons, FOX Entertainment is purchasing the producers of Bob’s Burgers, Paradise PD, and Lazor Wulf in a reported $50 million deal. In terms of staff, pretty much all of the upper management for Bento is staying put and Bento plans to run as an independent subsidiary that will allow it to produce content for other streaming services and networks.

Our Take

Should FOX take the drastic measure and move on from Family Guy and The Simpsons, purchasing Bento is one way to do it as it allows the company to own a larger share of its content even if co-produced with the likes of 20th Century FOX.
