Final Space Creator Hints At Season Three Start ; Unsure Of Season Four Renewal

Olan Rogers dropped by Reddit to give an update on the upcoming third season of Final Space which is the cover story for our Bubbleblabber the Magazine #2. Here’s what he had to say paraphrased with our analysis:

1) It’s sounding like a March time frame for the start of the new season for Adult Swim, with the first two seasons of Final Space headed to HBO MAX possibly next month. Now, typically when Adult Swim has a 30-minute series, they like to do Sundays @ 1130 pm ET following by a couple of quarter-hours. As of now, Momma Named Me Sheriff is getting the Valentine’s Day treatment @ midnight which should progress through until the kick off of the Spring season. Olan says production of the entirety of the 13 episodes of Final Space won’t actually be complete until May-ish anyway which could inspire the network to split the season much like they did with Rick and Morty last year.

2)Adult Swim France might be getting episodes earlier than even America (up to 24 hours), and Netflix appears to still be the international home of which Olan guesstimates a mid-Summer 2021 stream start.

3) Olan is touting that Adult Swim plans to support Final Space well with a marketing campaign. If I’m him, I’m not holding my breath on that one. He notes that the followers for Final Space have outpaced Disenchantment and that’s for two good reasons: 1) Final Space is the better show 2) Had Olan not taken on the breadth of marketing responsibilities for Final Space, it’s likely the show would’ve been canceled by now because the franchise would have had even fewer followers than the aforementioned Disenchantment one because Adult Swim doesn’t market or advertise anything that doesn’t rhyme with “Sick and Rorty”. Olan single-handedly increased the overnight ratings of Final Space year over year by mostly word-to-mouth campaigns set off by him which brings me to another point…

4) Olan hasn’t been told one way or the other if a fourth season of Final Space will happen. He has mentioned that he has already starting writing the fourth season, but due to recent management shifts at WarnerMedia, everything is up in the air. While I think all networks involved would be delusional not to order additional seasons given Final Space’s popularity, Olan could very well be the next great animation producer that WarnerMedia just let’s walk following recent producers like Mike McMahan, Dan Harmon, Brad Neely, and others who have all gone on to sign deals elsewhere.

More as it develops.
