Featurettes: Studio Ghibli Co-Founder Toshio Suzuki ; Behind-The-Scenes With One Piece English Dub

HBO MAX kicks off streaming of the entirety of the Studio Ghibli catalog which is one of the few bright spots in the otherwise paltry offerings of HBO’s animation category. To help celebrate, GKIDS is going nuts with clips including this new one featuring Studio Ghibli Co-Founder Toshio Suzuki where he talks about some of the more fond memories he has in running one of the world’s most respected studios.

In a recent New York Times interview, count South Park’s Matt Stone and Trey Parker as those excited by the Studio Ghibli acquisition on HBO MAX:

“I knew it was revered,” Reilly said of the news that the Ghibli films would be streaming, but he also noted that the announcement signaled to industry insiders “what we were reaching for, what kind of things we wanted to bring into the fold… When we were closing the South Park deal, Trey Parker and Matt Stone said, ‘Hey man, that really meant something to us when you brought in Ghibli.’”

Funimation has announced a June 2nd drop date for new English-dubbed episodes of One Piece. The episodes comprise of both the “Z’s Ambition” and “Punk Hazard” arcs starting with episodes 575 and moving through 587. Funimation has also announced a limited engagement where One Piece: Stampede will be streamed for about a month.

To help celebrate, Funimation has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette that showcases some of the production elements that went into making the new English Dub.
