For anyone that thought that 2018 was the rise of easily offended PC culture activists like Hari Kondabolu that would eventually see content being censored all in the name of harboring free speech, this Change.org petition might be right up your alley! As of this writing, nearly 60,000 fans of The Simpsons want to see Hari Kondabolu’s stand-up comedy special taken down from Netflix in a show of support for the longest running animated series in prime-time.

This after Hari Kondabolu produced a documentary called The Problem with Apu for Trutv that has seen opposing views on The Simpsons from both sides of the aisle.

Our Take

Look, there are some hardcore fans out of their of adult animation. I mean, this guy is making 3D-printed Futurama characters! So, if you’re a struggling comedian attempting to make a name for himself by taking down a beloved franchise for frivolous reasons, you’re gonna have a bad day. Yes, it might get you 15 seconds of fame, but when you’re fucking with a religion like The Simpsons, you better be able to take the heat. If I’m Adi Shankar, I’m shutting my mouth for a bit.
