“Family Guy”, “American Dad” and “Star Wars: Detours” Confirmed Status For Disney+

A few updates for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service set to release soon. For starters, Bob Iger and Brian Grazer did a panel interview type thing to promote Iger’s book that I don’t feel like promoting and during the conversation a question was posed by someone from the audience to Iger if Disney+ will feature Family Guy and American Dad. The answer? A resounding “No”.

Seth Green also told Collider that Star Wars Detours won’t be part of Disney’s plans for now despite the fact that we want it:

It’s still pretty status quo. My understanding is that the Lucasfilm plan is rooted in new movies and expansive television for the Disney+ platform. And it doesn’t seem right now that they’re pursuing this kind of comedy.

Our Take

I’m actually relieved that Family Guy and American Dad are just sticking to Hulu right now where it’s only slightly more crazy in terms of allowance of TV-14 plus humor. And as Green notes, status quo for Star Wars Detours (the interview points out that SuperMansion’s future is up in the air as well) so despite the fact that 40 episodes were produced it sounds like we’re not getting that anytime soon.
