English Dub Review: Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon “Hisui the Demon Slayer”

Overview:

Setsuna is kidnapped by Princess Aiya, daughter of the deputy shogun, who begs Setsuna to be her body double for a day so she can escape her studies.

Our Take:

So Hisui is probably my favorite character and it’s not just because he’s voiced by Aleks Le though that does help. I am going to kind of build my guy Aleks up a bit. His range is just awesome and all over the place. He can go from Zenitsu to steal your girl in two seconds flat. I just love listening to the characters he voices so I always want more Hisui when I can get him. The ladies seem to agree too because Princess Aiya definitely has a thing for him now and I don’t think Setsuna is too far behind.

Setsuna finally gets to sleep and she gets kidnapped, probably not going to make her want to do that much more. To be fair she does a pretty good job of playing the role of a princess. Kira Buckland did her typical amazing work and whenever one of her characters gets taken aback I just love hearing her flabbergasted voice. Truly one in a million voice work from her. I feel like I build up all the voice actors I talk about but I just haven’t experienced too many bad ones. Not yet at least…

This was more or less a monster of the week type episode but as you know I kind of love those. It was an octopus demon and the princess definitely got more adventure than she bargained for with it. But it all worked out okay as she was rescued by the dashing Hisui and even got to ride home with him! Next week will probably see us return to the “main quest” but I kind of hope not. Side stories like these are fun and I could always use more Hisui in my life.
