English Dub Review: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun “You Fit Right In Now, Iruma-Kun”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

As Iruma blindly predicts he’ll have another normal day at school, Iruma goes home, has a bath, then dinner with Sullivan, then goes to bed, but suddenly realizes he now fits into demon society and worries that it no longer bothers him…

Our Take

As a final episode, I don’t doubt that Iruma is starting to question whether he should stay in the demon world or not. After all, he’s made so many friends at this point. It feels like a very common midpoint filler but nothing that gives of “finale” vibes which are expected since Season 2 was recently announced. In some parts of the Anime, it felt like a throwback to the old Early 2000’s Cartoon Network days in terms of just having good old fashion fun, and the plot itself reminded me of Rosario + Vampire with its excessive uses of making everything colorful but with a less serious atmosphere.

However, while the Anime is based on a Manga that tries to do its own thing with the Shonen genre, it fails because it’s very by the numbers in terms of copying various tropes and certain character traits from other Shonen anime and manga as a whole which makes much of the proceedings so average and predictable. The pacing was also bad in a few episodes and certain characters were ironically more interesting than the protagonist which can make things a bit off balance with it’s only saving grace being a The twist ending that’s after the credits which gives me a modicum of hope for something better on season 2.
