English Dub Review: Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs “Unlike You Wannabe Nobles”

Overview:

The students go on a school trip. Things go awry when they are attacked and Angelica is taken hostage. It’s up to Leon to lead the students to fight back.

Our Take:

Leon gets a new air bike in addition to his promotion. That will probably come in handy real soon. The main story is that it’s time for the school trip. Leon goes to the same island as Angelica, Olivia, and Chris.

During the trip, we get this awkward moment between Leon, Angelica, and Olivia at a marriage shrine. The each get a charm and the person in charge assumes they all prayed for their friendship. I know I am for sure.

The trip is going fine until their ship is being attack by a horde of monsters and soldiers led by Princess Hertrude, who is looking to wage war against the kingdom. The soldiers are about to take hostages, but Angelica surrenders herself to protect everyone else. Leon and Olivia are the only ones who struggle and try to stop Angelica, but all the other students beat them up.

Chris wants Leon’s help to fight and save Angelica, but Leon will only do so if everyone else fights too. He calls everyone else fake nobles and says they’re tarnishing their families’ legacies. They’re all cowards who just backed down when they had the chance to help. Everything he says is true, but it angers the other students. However, it also motivates them to fight, so mission accomplished.

I was hoping for more development on the current standing of our main trio. That being said, I always like seeing Leon call everyone out on their nonsense and this is a prime example of that. The other nobles needed a kick in the butt to act and Leon is the only one who can deliver that.

Angelica continues to grow as a character. If you told me at the beginning of the show that she would surrender herself to protect everyone else, there’s no way I would believe you. Her growth continues to be consistent and she continues to be one of the show’s stronger characters.

I’m also intrigued by the presence of Princess Hertrude. We don’t learn a lot about her in this episode, but she’s promising enough as an antagonist. Something tells me this final battle is going to be intense.
