English Dub Review: Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs “No Matter How Tough the World of Otome Games Is”

Overview (Spoilers Ahead):

Leon heads into battle against the Black Night. After the battle, Leon has some other loose ends to tie up.

Our Take:

It’s time for Leon’s showdown with the Black Knight. The Black Knight does seem like a legitimate threat for a little while, but Leon ultimately wins. The principality tries to finish everyone off with a monster army, but Luxion quickly disposes of them. Leon refuses to kill any of the principalities’ solders, but makes them live their lives in shame.

After the battle, Leon has Chris take credit for defeating the Black Night. He also fully reconciles with Livia and Angie. However, he’s not done yet as the prince and his crew challenges him to yet another duel.

Greg battles him using a mish-mash of parts from all of their destroyed armor. Leon wants to throw the fight, but Greg’s armor is unstable. Nobody believes Leon, so he has to win the duel in order to save Greg. if that’s not bad enough, Leon gets promoted yet again, this time to Viscount.

After all that, Livia tells Leon she meant what she said and she’ll be waiting to hear how Leon feels about her. Leon decides that he might just be a mob character, but he wants to be with Livia and Angie. He doesn’t want to throw away these friendships after all and that’s how we wrap up the season.

The big battle wasn’t as intense as I thought it would be be, but it suffices. Not to mention, the other antics Leon gets involved with in this episode are enjoyable as always. It’s nice to see that things haven’t really changed between Leon and everyone else.

There are still a lot of questions that aren’t answered in this episode, even though some of them have pretty obvious answers. This might not have been the perfect season finale, but it ends with Leon still being friends with Livia and Angie. That’s why I was hoping for more than anything, so as far as I’m concerned, this finale got the job done.
