English Dub Review: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War “Pale White Castle at a Crossroads”

Overview:

North Ambria State is on high alert after receiving a demand for reparations from the Erebonian Empire. However, Master Glark has a plan, and it involves archaisms, a hero’s grandchild, and previously undisclosed ambitions.

Our Take:

I don’t have any official way of knowing but it at least SOUNDED like Matt Mercer as Olivier in this episode. But as we know they have had actors reprise and then be replaced in the next episode. I have no idea why they have done this, maybe a union thing or something but everyone involved claims that it isn’t the case. Either way, I think Crunchyroll should address it somehow but maybe that’s just me being an entitled fan.

This episode was actually really good because it didn’t rely on all the past references. I love the past references and characters but with all the things going on with the voice actors it was a bit sour. Now, this episode was all new stuff with nothing but North Ambria’s future at stake.

Rogan doesn’t like the plans Glark has and has an idea to take things into his own hands. The only problem was that things went almost too well. When he went to seize Glark it turns out that someone did his job for him and Glark was already dead. If you’re not familiar with this series though who knows if this death will actually stick?
