English Dub Review: The Heike Story “Kiyomori, Dies”

Overview:

The capital is moved back to present-day Kyoto. Amidst the political turmoil, the move ignites, Biwa and the others are shaken by unexpected deaths.

Our Take:

I guess if you’re a history major then most of this show is already spoiled anyways. The Heike clan is barreling towards their fate one way or another. It’s sad but that’s how history shows go I suppose. I will say this death hurt a little less than the last one. Kiyomori wasn’t exactly the nicest of guys but the way he went out was not the greatest. I don’t know if they just took creative license or what but he had a fever that literally heated up the whole room he was in. Everyone was sweating and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

The one we should feel bad for is Biwa. She is told to leave by spring but she has nowhere to go. I was dead wrong about her relationship as well. I thought while he was mean to her he still cared about her but I guess not. It was nice to get back into The Heike Story as I have missed the artwork and history. I hope we get a more consistent release now that the holidays are over.
