English Dub Review: The Detective Is Already Dead “So I Can’t Become a Detective”

Overview:

Saikawa, Natsunagi, and Kimizuka set off on a cruise together, during which Kimizuka unexpectedly encounters a former acquaintance. It turns out that something precious is onboard the ship, something which attracts the wrong sort of attention…

Our Take:

This show is all over the place. We go from flashback to modern-day back and forth with no lead-in at all. So in case, you were wondering this episode is back to the modern-day. Why was the flashback important? Who knows but it apparently doesn’t matter now.

There are two episodes left and I really hope it gets better because this was one of the shows I was most looking forward to in the summer season. Now it’s just sad how bad it is. There is no consistency and the animation has all but dropped off. I really wish this one was as good as its first episode cause that was really awesome. Even the next couple were pretty good but not these last few.

Kimi is dense as hell like most anime protagonists but somehow it was even more maddening with this sort of setup. How can you invite a girl to a bar and not expect her to get the wrong idea? At the very least the voice acting by Austin Tindle is really good and that is something I enjoy but it isn’t enough to make me recommend this train wreck.
