Our Take

A fun festival episode with a bit of trouble which was resolved quickly. Honestly, I wish days like this will continue but we are halfway through the anime. It was also great to see all the girls looking absolutely fine in those Yukatas. Izanami-san especially and Yota’s reaction to seeing her was spot on, I couldn’t agree more. I love how Ashura had the exact same reaction as Yota. They really drove home the fact that Yota and Ashura are just good friends, I liked that they have similar reactions to stuff and watching them work together.

It’s also clear after the last episode, Yota really didn’t rush his feeling for Izanami and I really like how they’re currently developed. Izanami is now more open and cheerful which means that both she and her father are now on the path to move on with their lives and be happy. Hina’s jealousy is understandable personally, Narukami did not intend to upset her but I really felt her when at one point somehow Narukami “ignore” her a little bit since he can now comfortably communicate with Izanami. After all, Hina did play a major role in immensely helping the two relationship-wise.

Overall the proceedings of this episode up until Hina being missing was quite calm and laid-back with some elements of tension via the chase scene which arguably didn’t need to happen. And despite the weirdness of the plot itself, it feels like a calm before the storm as it felt the need to remind the audience of the world will supposedly end in just “9 Days” and only time will tell when things all go wrong.
