English Dub Review: The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far “Cain, the Rookie Adventurer”

Overview:

Cain registers as an adventurer and goes on his first quest.

Our Take:

It’s Cain’s 12th birthday, which means he can now register as an adventurer. He gets into a bit of a scuffle with some other adventurers. An A-ranked adventurer named Claude breaks it up and treats Cain to a drink.

Later, Tifana joins Cain on his first quest to defeat some goblins. They run into some higher-ranked monsters too, but Cain disposes of them on his own. The guild master even promotes him all the way to A-rank. Not bad for his first day on the job.

This episode does a fine job at introducing some new characters. I’m curious about Claude. He’s a strong adventurer, but Cain says he looks familiar. I have my theory as to why, but we’ll see if that ends up being the case. I also like his wife and guildmate: Rina. She’s entertaining for the short time she’s on screen. She seems like the type to keep her husband on task.

Edin the guild master is also a neat addition. He happens to be Tifana’s brother, but he actually understands Cain and his intentions. He also knows to take everything his sister says at face value. Plus, he even helps Cain out when he’s in a bind at the guild hall. Edin definitely manages to make good first impression.

It’s nice to see Milly and Nina again after being absent for several episodes. Unfortunately, they’re not on screen for very long. That’s alright because I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of them soon.

This episode continues to keep things at least slightly interesting. I’m still not to the point of completely liking this show, but between these new characters being introduced and the gods discussing an evil that’s been reborn, it may be getting to that point.
