English Dub Review: STAR BLAZERS: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 “The Terezart Landing Operation: Strike the Enemy Missile Fleet!””

Anyone got a cigarette?

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The Yamato is backed into a corner near Terezart when the Gatlantians fire an anti-gravity weapon that essentially makes the ship a sitting duck for an all-out missile assault. Kodai and the rest of the 2199 crew make the joint decision to use the Wave Motion Gun to bust their way out and then plan their next moves against the Gatlantians that are left on the surface of the planet.

Our Take

One of the underutilized assets for Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 is definitely the mech warrior fleet that they had assembled much earlier on in the series. When we finally get the chance to use them, the results are a satisfying display of technical brilliance that showcases the producers innate ability to enthrall their audiences with hardcore sci-fi space battles that are a marvel to beholden. By the time they finish, one is almost out of breath from watching them, but then you want more and realize now we’ve gotta play the waiting game.
