Our Take

For episode 3, what seemed like a huge problem was resolved pretty quickly, albeit in a satisfying enough way. A lot of things are not explained enough to be logical. If the other episodes will continue with the plot of the military thing or just like different people needing help? Couldn’t the “Twenties” government agents pursuing Mayumi just approach her normally and talk it out like any rational human being? Why go as far as kidnapping when she’s clearly a harmless civilian and a kid at that. You’d think the government would normally shut down those unnecessary witnesses with money since the Neuralizers from MIB clearly aren’t a thing yet.

As for episode 4, I liked it in terms of aesthetics and atmosphere with its casino theme but I wish they didn’t have to keep emphasizing that everyone is a middle schooler so damn frequently when I’m attempting to suspend my disbelief. The visual style and direction continue to stand out as one of the most unique and for the most part, it definitely carries this anime.
