English Dub Review: Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time: Super Extra “Peter Grill and a Family Disgraced”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Fruitalia tries to forcibly erect Peter, even resorting to an extra sensitivity spell, but he takes a hardline stance on not getting hard for anyone but Luvelia. Fruitalia’s servants explain to Peter that their elf family is in a rough situation due to a diplomatic matter that left them in massive debt, leaving both Vegan and Fruitalia with no choice but to find a strong mate to pay it all off. Frustrated, Fruitalia goes even farther by using an illusion to look like Luvelia, tricking Peter’s lower half into functioning. Also, the other girls wake up Vegan to go find Peter.

OUR TAKE

I’m gonna be frank with you, man. This shit is bad. It’s about a serial cheater who is also constantly assaulted and continues to lie to his fiance who he supposedly loves. And aside from switching out the type of fetish or fantasy race every now and then, it’s basically the same joke, over and over and over again. It’s also animated like total crap, so not even the parts that are supposed to be even remotely sexy look terrible. It just totally fails on every single task it had in front of it. This is basically borderline pornography that stops just short of showing any actual action and in its place they keep pushing the story of a pitiable man who is in a miserable situation he cannot escape. This is what my general thoughts are on this series as a whole and having binged through a season and a half prior to this episode, I don’t see that changing within the scant few episodes I will be reviewing. And now that I’ve used up this assessment on the first week, I greatly fear what I’ll have to say in the weeks to come.

As for this episode in particular, it basically hits all the boxes as listed above. I lost sympathy for Peter’s situation long before now, but being essentially magically drugged to make your whole body unbearable sensitive sounds like some sort of hell, especially when it’s nonconsensual as seen here. I already didn’t care for Vegan for pulling similar shit, I certainly don’t feel any sort of positive feelings for Fruitalia. We can get as sad a backstory for them as there could possibly be, but nothing justifies or excuses this behavior. It’s just rape, plain and simple. It’s essentially the same deal with the ogres but without the magic, then there’s the orcs that would drug their own daughter, and the goblins that feed off…fluids. Yeah, they sure come up with a lot of different names for semen. If this were a better show, I might somewhat enjoy that. But I cannot overstate how much this is just an absolute waste of everyone’s time. A waste to make, a waste to distribute, a waste to watch, a waste to wank, and a waste to even give it a single extra thought.
