English Dub Review: Mix “Do You Envy Them?”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Meisei gets into the quarter-finals of the Koshien tournament after two more wins which have the area’s fans super-excited. In slice-of-life news, we find out that the Akai brothers are actually step-brothers which gets Otomi excited because now she’s got something in common with her love interest. Ryou also teases the possibility of joining the Meisei baseball team who already eliminated his brother’s team from the tournament.

Our Take

Don’t worry, there’s not a ton of jealousy going on this episode. What we do get is a rushed effort to race us to the show’s last few episodes so that the producers can spend more episodes on the pivotal final game. In fact, the directors spend a lot of time with ‘B-shots’ in and around Tokyo rather than spending a lot of time playing baseball despite the fact that we blow throw two teams like they were nothing. Ryou’s not going to interest me much until he makes up his mind as to whether or not he joins the baseball team, an idea he spends quite a bit of time on. Could he be the edge Meisei is looking for so as to win their first championship in 30 years? Or will they stand pat with To’s solid pitching and So’s stout leadership?
