English Dub Review: Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou “Elders, Getting Changed, Being a Man”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Aki is just very uncomfortable when in close contact with women and that comes into a play a lot this week. For starters, he can’t read manga with Yuzu nor go to the amusement part with Sumire because he’s too short. Finally, he models girls clothing for Yuri…actually, Aki probably spends more time this episode dressed as a girl than a guy, but he also gains kinship with Yuri and Sumire.

Our Take

I’ve come to the conclusion that perhaps the point of this series is one of two things: 1) It’s a throwback story of a boy realizing he is gay and just not interested in women. 2) This is an underage boy simply not interested in girls at the moment. In any event, it’s odd that Funimation would curate an English dub for a series such as this given that both premises are either dated or a borderline rape series and in this day and age why a show like this would come to America for additional exposure given today’s extra PC climate is beyond me.
