English Dub Review: Magical Girl Raising Project “Update Notice!”

One candy to rule them all!

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS BELOW)

The magical girls soon discover, by chance, I must add, that when they stop being Mahou Shoujo they stop at everything, quite literally at that. FAV just destroy their delusions of a possible misunderstanding by confirming their imminent termination. Things are said, other things are not done. Under the table deals are made, a new magical girl is introduced.

And with the devil’s timing, a new feature is added to their magical phones: trading is now available (Pokemon Go, is that you?!), forcefully if necessary. Like any other bank transaction, as usual. It also seems that certain group is after our cute Snow White, who is in the middle of an existential crisis, to take what is hers.

OUR TAKE

At first glance, this week episode is interesting and full of things to say. As if!

Why showing us Nemurin’s dismiss at the end of last week’s episode if it was going to be revealed soon afterwards? It would make more sense if FAV confirms their suspicions later into the game, for more moral shock value to the survivors. Speaking of which, their reactions, while quite vocal, were kind of tame. Snow White and, to a lesser degree, La Pucelle is the only one that seems as shocked and uncertain as a normal human would. The others? It was like they are told that their dog died. Sad? Yes, but not too important in the grand scheme of things.

Also, while I admit that I love the dubs on this show so much, especially because I am totally taken by Best Girl Top Speed personification, Ruler’s British accent is quite endearing, but that is because I am a sucker for English accent despite her trashy tsundere personality. Speaking of the latter, Ruler’s band of misfits are quite annoying, specifically Swim Swim who is doing her best impression of a doormat.

I love this show.
