English Dub Review: Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout “A Guy Who Reincarnated as a Fantasy Knockout and a Rebel Army”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Under the leadership of Ugraine, King Ishurna’s daughter, the people have turned into a mob. Tachibana has joined the rebel army after being swept up in everything by Ugraine. Meanwhile, the shadow of the Demon King’s army sneaks in unnoticed. At the same time, Schwartz and Lucius, who have been called in by the king to gain control over the rebel army, head out to intercept the mob closing in on the royal capital, but…

Our Take:
Regarding everything that’s happened to Tachibana in the previous episodes, it’s not surprising to see him get caught in a predicament like this. What’s shocking is that Ugraine, the princess Tachibana was helping, turns out to be a rebellious jerk. All because her father, the king, was being too overprotective of her. Teenagers, am I right?
The episode’s first half puts the spotlight on Ugraine’s attempts to recruit a bunch of men to her army by using her charm and Tachibana’s. Then, Tachibana plans to escape and rescue Muria, who’s been captured by Ugraine’s army in last week’s episode. Unfortunately, the charmed men blocked his way, and he accidentally tied Muria up even more while wondering about him being helpful or not. Even worse is that Tachibana’s mind has been affected by Ugraine’s maid’s dark energy, which fills her mind with negative thoughts and jealousy.
Amid Tachibana’s comical mishaps, the episode provided more of a backstory on how he first met Jinguji and the significance of their friendship. Jinguji saved Tachibana from a group of bullies when they were young, causing Tachibana to rely on him whenever he was in trouble. The sequence emphasizes Tachibana’s inner conflict on whether he’s ready to take care of himself or not. It’s too bad that the dark energy inside him makes it more complicated than he realized.
The second half is basically “The Schwartz & Lucius Show”, with the two arriving to help the king deal with his daughter’s uprising. Fortunately, it didn’t take them too long to accomplish, as Schwartz uses Gram to destroy their weapons and clothes, breaking the spell placed upon them. But, of course, there’s also a matter of a jealous Jinguji for them to deal with. Unsurprisingly, Schwartz and Lucius provided enough humor and weirdness in their master/student chemistry to compensate for the lack of screen time for the show’s main stars. But, more importantly, it showcases Schwartz’s desire to help people despite his lack of bravery.
With the show’s first season nearing its conclusion, it’s no surprise that this episode wants to up the ante in the comedy. Of course, it also isn’t without the urgency of Tachibana falling prey to the maid’s dark energy. Not to mention a series of tremors rocking the kingdom with Jinguji and the others inside the danger zone. Only time will tell how these heroes will escape from their latest dilemma.
