English Dub Review: Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These “The Verge of Death”(Part 2)

Well, that was underwhelming.

In the Funimation finale, the Free Planets Alliance, most notably the 12th, 3rd, and 7th units, are destroyed while the 8th, 5th, 9th, and 10th fleets also sustaining heavy damage. Yang’s 13th fleet makes it out ok for a retreat but Admiral Lobos wants to regroup the forces and make a final stand at the Amiltzer Starzone. Reinhard plans to do the same and as a result, the FPA takes even more damage.

Our Take

There is so much more to this season than what we’re going to be ending up getting this go ’round. The final narration alludes to the potential of us getting way more of the future conflict between the FPA and the Galactic Empire, however, nothing has been announced yet.While the battles presented were really well done, set against the backdrop of a breathtaking orchestral composition, I can’t help but feel like this episode was really more of a setup for what was supposed to be even more of a grand finale.
