English Dub Review: Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These “Each Person’s Star”

When you wish upon a star.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

On this week’s episode, Yang tries to resign but is probably convinced to stay along. He heads out to dinner with Julian and runs into some familiar names and regales over some gelatin salad, but on the way home, Yang learns that Jessica Edwards stopped by his house while he was away trying to save the universe. We come to find out that Jessica is running for office, however, that’s not the only brush with politics that we deal with this week.

There are dark forces in the political circles. Warmongers, those who wanna take over the universe, and corruption are seething at the reams for the FPA with a council deciding to invade the Galactic Empire despite the cost to its citizens and people. Jessica’s message is that of peace, but will she attain it?

Our Take

Clearly, Funimation gives no fucks about future episodes of their space opera trio of Legend of Galactic Heroes, Space Battleship Tiramisu, and Star Blazers, as they haven’t even promoted them as part of their returning summer anime lineup. Which sucks, because Legend of the Galactic Heroes is getting pretty good and we’re getting some gurgles in the story arcs department that hopefully pay off in the future. There are a lot of moving parts introduced this week, but their importance is established and now we can set course for the franchise’s future.
