English Dub Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders “The Miasma of the Void, Cool Ice, Part 3 “

With four episodes left, Who will survive??

Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)

The episode begins when Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin notice the trashed scenery of a room within Dio’s mansion full of random Sphere holes as a clear indicator of the previous episode’s battle, But when we finally back to Polnareff as he’s about to accept his fate, Polnareff discovers that despite how heavily injured, Iggy saved his ass, by using the last ounce of his energy to pull him out of danger but at a devastating cost…

Angered at not only losing Avdol and now Iggy, Polnareff unleashes one hell of a Stand Beatdown on Ice and even takes advantage of the fact Cool Ice had been turned into a vampire by Dio. It’s a satisfying yet bittersweet scene as Polnareff finally destroyed Ice who turned out to be Dio’s last line of defense via sunlight but is now by himself and full of guilt that the two had to save his ass when he should’ve been the one to save theirs. But says to himself that there’s no time to Mourn yet, as the experience has only hardened his resolve to move forward and find Dio.

At first it may seem like filler in places, but we do have scenes where Suzi Q (Joseph’s Wife and Holly’s Mother) pays a visit in Japan to check on her daughter, having fully understood the severity of her condition, but the best thing she can do for her is to have faith in Jotaro and Joseph. It’s a heartfelt scene that helps remind the audience why the two Joestars even traveled to Egypt in the first place. When we cut back at Dio’s mansion, Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin come across one of DIO’s weaker servants. And given that Jotaro isn’t easily fooled by his trick, he gives him a massive beatdown and demands the tiny vampire that they guide them to where Dio is. At first, I thought this would’ve been the ending, But in a post-credits scene, Polnareff, after somehow patching up his injuries from Cool Ice, finally comes face to face with Sociopathic, Vampiric shit-bag himself, Dio Brando!

Our Take

With this Jojo storyline slowly coming to a close, Anything can happen as we’re slowly seeing various Team Joestar members are dying left & right. But now with four episodes left, it raises the question of who’ll survive next? But I’ll also say that Iggy’s Death was easily one of the saddest highlights of this episode and despite Araki’s track record of animal cruelty in his storylines, it effectively works in selling the Drama as Iggy has developed into a character that we the audience actually gave a shit about.

As for the ending, I’m surprised Polnareff is still able to walk despite how intense his injuries looked in places. But now with Dio being the last one left, The last four episodes will be the most intense final battle yet!
