English Dub Review: How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? “Did You Have a Nice Summer?”

Overview:

During the summer, an unexpected set of problems arise.

Our Take:

The girls encounter a problem: the summer. The summer means that a lot of people, especially students, have time off, and those people flock to the gym. More people means that it’s harder to do exercises, especially on popular equipment, because of demand. That means that they have to use less popular equipment or get creative with their time. They end up doing a little bit of both.

This episode was particularly helpful (especially to me) because honestly, not everyone can go to the gym. Gyms are fantastic for their good equipment and in some establishments, trainers, but that doesn’t change the fact that gyms do cost a fair amount. For some, it’s worth the cost, and that’s valid! However, not everyone has the means, so it’s important to show some exercises that can be done in the house. It’s true that a lot of household exercises cycle around the usual (sit-ups, crunches, push-ups, hand weights), so having something different is a nice touch! But of course, it can never hurt to be careful of what your surroundings are, although most of us probably don’t have million-dollar furniture lying around to break.

It’s still the tail end of the summer, and beaches are still open. Swimming is fantastic, but sometimes the water is too cold. Or in this case, there are sharks. The sand is an uneven surface that moves constantly makes any workouts done on it even more of a task, so beach workouts really work! I should try some myself, one of these days. I’ll say, this show really makes me want to go out and exercise!

I’m still having a lot of fun with this show. It mixes humor and being informative pretty well, and its running jokes are pretty hilarious. How does Machio keep showing up everywhere, anyway? The girl group is getting larger, and they all support each other. Even though their teacher isn’t too keen on training with them, she puts in the effort, and she doesn’t discourage her students. I could deal without the fan-servicey shots, but those are few, so they’re tolerable. It seemed like there was a lot more in this one though, and mm, not exactly a fan of that. Still, overall, it’s a good package, and this is probably a show I look forward to every week.

Muscle!
