English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “Well Fed, Well Regarded”

Overview:

The dish that had everyone freaking out was a gellin. Which are essentially slime enemies from RPGs. Poncho cuts them into strips and boils them. This process basically makes gellin udon so Souma is getting all the tastes of home. Hakuya is now going to be the Prime Minister and the first thing he asks of Souma is to take a day off. Souma takes this opportunity to go on a date with Liscia.

Our Take:

I honestly expected something way worse with how everyone was acting last time. Though I guess eating a slime monster would be a little weird. Something tells me that almost every episode of this series will have a cliffhanger. This episode ended with a beast girl getting upset at the person she was sitting with so I imagine that will have some ramifications next time.

I’m not opposed to harem’s in anime but in this show, I at least thought Souma wasn’t into all that. But after finding out that polygamy isn’t only allowed but encouraged, he can’t help fantasizing. Though to be fair I guess I can’t blame him, and only time will tell if this goes anywhere but I have a feeling that Juna and Aisha are at least going to be his wives too at some point.

I really like the character of Aisha, I thought she was just going to be your typical hard-boiled character that needed to soften up. Turns out she already has a softer side and it’s adorable. She’s super into Souma though and keeps trying to get him to bed her which is a bit cringey but kind of expected at this point.

Liscia and Aisha have a friendly duel. Well… I say friendly but it was definitely on the scary side. They were casting magic while fighting and it was pretty cool. I think people might have just one element they are attuned to and if that’s the case then it seems Aisha is wind while Liscia is Ice. The effects for the magic were good, nothing special but they weren’t bad by any means.

Another episode another cliffhanger, I am intrigued to see what could get that person so upset. Going by anime tropes I have a feeling someone will be saying bad things about Souma not realizing he’s right there. The character’s design was pretty unique so I imagine they will be a pretty important character in the story.
