English Dub Review: English Dub Review: Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S “When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do (It’s Hard to Match Others)”

Overview

Our Take

The first segment gave us some much-needed for the cute but she’s overshadowed Elma, which ended quite sweet with Kobayashi dispensing wisdom as she often does. Then within the next 2 segments, Tohru on Patrol and the Amusement Park were easily highlights for this episode. Though I can do without the “face-licking” scene that involves Kanna and Ilulu.

I think what I appreciated the most from this episode was the focus on side characters. The main cast always gets a lot of credit (and rightfully so), but side characters can also matter in the narrative if they play significant roles in later storylines where they help the lead characters progress or develop in some way. And while Ilulu didn’t add anything major in this episode, she’s fitting in just fine.

Overall, aside from an awkward scene where both Kanna and Ilulu were licking Saikawa’s face, It was cool to see that although a small majority of the dragon community do not fully understand the human world sometimes, they have managed to adapt to it and even working together for a common goal. Also, The one last ride on the Ferris wheel as one whole family having fun together was quite a sweet ending.
