English Dub Review: Doreiku the Animation “Harvest”

“Enslavement Of Dummies: The Animation”

Overview (Spoilers below)

Nerima’s creepiness is reaffirmed with the same breath our uncanny heroes are discussing how to smart Setagaya. Just to be outplayed in return with their own tactic, leaving as the only survivor Eia to escape from an obvious trap with Best Girl Sachi as the bait. Not that I blame them for being lured by such exquisite bait. But the irony of the situation cannot be more in the nose.

Setagaya, having a landslide victory is partying like a boss with Dat Lab Coat Fujiko while explaining the secret of his success. Just to be betrayed by the latter under the command of Takio Minato, Dio’s disciple on this show.

And Eia is on the run, being chased by Nerima’s men, who is once again someone else’s dog.

Our take

I don’t know if feel annoyed or exasperated by this show, but at the moment I am not a happy camper.

Minato has been running around since episode one, with some cameos here and there through all the series, but I managed to forget about the guy entirely, and the Producer may realize that I was not alone on this because he felt the need to use the now familiar flashback no jutsu to remind us of his existence, wasting more time that the show doesn’t have to wrap up this madness. I have to give credit when is due, the little brat did what Nerima should have done from the start with his workforce: use others that don’t have the SCM to take down the rivals. Heck, he even took his time to identify and collect as much intel as possible from all his enemies with either incredible competence or taking advantage of other’s stupidity and carelessness.

That the guy in question is severely unhinged and suffers from Extreme Inferiority Complex is not helping the rest of the cast. I think that all of the participants are morally bankrupt and are trying to outdo each other in how to be the biggest piece of trash in town. Now, the SCM Judgment’s mechanism is explained and it’s rather grim after-effects are shown, I can say that it is one of the most stupid plot device ever used on anime, but at least is within the boundaries of its setting. And that last scene when Zero puts on his mask seems to foreshadow Kiyo’s reappearance once again.

But the most tragic thing ever done is…Best Girl Sachi, what they have done to you!!!!
